ABOUT THE STUDIO
Kalliopi Monoyios' illustration studio is based in the fine city of Chicago, Illinois. Using a combination of traditional and digital techniques, Kalliopi is able to offer her clients a wide variety of styles ranging from tightly rendered scientific subjects to highly stylized cartoons. Notably, her illustrations have graced the covers of two prestigous journals, Science (April 2004) and Nature (April 2006). She has also recently illustrated two highly acclaimed popular non-fiction books, Why Evolution is True by Jerry Coyne (2009, Viking) and Your Inner Fish by Neil Shubin (2008, Pantheon). Her expertise lies in understanding complex scientific concepts and designing visual aids to communicate these concepts to the general public.

ABOUT THE ILLUSTRATOR
Kalliopi Monoyios, the founder and principal artist of Kalliopi Monoyios' Illustration & Fine Art Studio, has a bachelor's degree in Geology from Princeton University. Her formal science background gives her the ability to analyze and understand highly technical information which she can then convey to the public using her artistic skills. Kalliopi studied illustration at the Art Institute of Chicago, Continuing Studies Program. Early in her career she was inspired by the following artists and teachers: Betsey Garand, Susan Clinard, and Carol Abraczinskas. She is a professional member of the Guild of Natural Science Illustrators.
